Meyer Middle School is named after the beloved DeWayne Meyer. In April 1966 DeWayne Meyer was finishing up his first year as principal of the River Falls Junior High School, then located at 211 N. Fremont St. DeWayne spent 47 years in this building, first as a student (1936-1947), then as a teacher (1956-1963), and finally as a principal (1964-1990).
Meyer Middle School at 230 N. 9th St. is named in his honor (Republican Eagle, May 25, 2016).
