Greenwood Elementary school is a neighborhood school that serves families on the northeast side of River Falls. Greenwood was built in 1955 but has seen many additions and renovations that took place in the 1960's, 1990's, 2013, and 2020. Greenwood is now a three-section elementary school (three classrooms for each grade) for kindergarten through fifth grade students. Our enrollment is around 400 students, and we have 55 staff members to include 30 certified teachers, specialists, and therapists.
Students and staff at Greenwood strive to support each other in their social, emotional, and academic growth. We want students to have high expectations for themselves while knowing mistakes are opportunities for learning. Greenwood has a strong character education program that has been recognized more than any other school in Wisconsin. Twice, Greenwood was designated as a State School of Character (2017 and 2022) and a National School of Character (2017 and 2022).
